Biophilic Experiences - Multi-Species Empathetic Exercise

Initial Thoughts:

Moving from last weeks exercise I was still thinking about how an interactive experience could be inspired from this multi-species empathetic exercise.

When thinking about a non-human species to choose I realized I have none in my apartment. Not wanted ones at least, I had a mouse once. So I had to think of life outside my apartment

I landed on the worm because it is even smaller than a mouse, there are more worms than rats, and they have a larger ecological niche.

Worms way of Sensing/Being:

Their eyes/sight are one because they don't have ears or eyes. They have nerves that respond to light and vibrations and chemoreceptors that taste; the muscles of their bodies make movements in response. Worms are truly one with the earth - gut feeling. The most important senses to a worm are feeling and taste. Worms are kind of like big tounges.

Worms find their mating partners based on what the quality of the other worms burrow is - that seems a lot like modern romance. Worms are simultaneous hermaphrodites, meaning both worms have both gendered reproductive organs and during reproduction both worm will be a mother and father.

Random Questions/idea :

What would it be like to have 5 pairs of hearts?

What would it be like to taste through our skin? Would we have a better relationship with our environment.

How Human can relate to Worm Senses ?

Similar symbiotic relationship with trees and plants to release carbon dioxide from their skin, have a need to stay hydrated

A sensory game leading one to perceived nutrients- human empathy game to relate to worms experience of letting muscles respond to chemical response (taste/smell), deprived of audio and sight. (Think of a way to recreate sensation of vibrations for players - maybe restaurant buzzer)

Shared Experience Exercise - Composting

I decided to start a composting box in my apartment as a multi-species experience. In which I can form a relationship with these worms. A small simulation of what the Worms experience outside my apartment.
